New Mexico Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication serves as a foundational and comprehensive education for technical writing and similar career paths. The program emphasizes professional written, visual, and oral communication within scientific and technical contexts. During the degree program, skills are developed in document design and editing, advanced multimedia presentations, content creation and editing, and multi-stakeholder negotiation and management. Students pick a focus area in the sciences, and complete a capstone thesis of original research. My research was focused on the intersection of web navigation and information architecture design with visual impairment, and how they mutually inform each other on accessibility needs and gaps.
