Right Now
New Mexico is home. Born and raised on the southern US border, I now live in the Albuquerque Metro Area. My partner and I, along with our dog and cat, are building a beautiful life together in the Land of Enchantment.
While Albuquerque is currently home, I dream of someday living in a city with a robust rail transit system. My inner model-train nerd yearns for it.
Back Then
I have been building websites and tinkering with computers since middle school, when I built my first version of this website back in 2007 with static HTML I copied and pasted from a tutorial online. From there, I learned how to make websites responsive and interactive with CSS and Javascript.
By high school, I started learning PHP, and used it to redesign my high school’s website.
At New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM, I initially studied computer science, and worked on campus as a student web developer and web designer over the years. I eventually switched degree plans and graduated with a B.Sci in Technical Communication with a focus in Computer Science and Universal Design.
For Work
I currently work as a Product Owner / Senior Applications Developer for the New Mexico Health Care Authority’s Information Technology Division, where I manage the System Integrator platform, oversee aspects of project management, manage invoices and budgets, and direct integration work with developers and contractors.
The work I do now is part of a larger Medicaid Enterprise System (MES) and Medicaid Management Information System Replacement (MMISR) project for the State of New Mexico. In collaboration with the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services, our work at New Mexico HCA is bringing medical information technologies and services to the modern era.
For Fun
In my free time, teach beginner piano, and still play and write music for fun. I paint, sketch, and play logistics heavy video games. I am an avid coffee drinker, and I tinker with code on personal projects all the time.
My partner and I go on walks with the dog, hit the gym with some regularity, and enjoy eating a Costco pizza after a big grocery run.
